13th and Monroe Street, NW

Holy moly, quite a change from this. Back in 2011 the Mt. Rona Baptist Church had significant damage from that year’s earthquake.

3431 13th Street, NW

It’s called the 13th Street Sanctuary:

“This innovative and complex adaptive reuse project in DC’s Columbia Heights neighborhood converted an historic yet neglected church into a unique set of 8 residences. The technically challenging re-use of the structure required introduction of new openings into the heavy masonry exterior while paying homage to the existing decor. The result is a striking combination of old and new elements including a suspended stair within the existing church tower.”
