“Dear PoPville,
I’m wandering if the community has any suggestions or reviews on online interior design services such as Modsy, Decorilla, Decorist, or others that I’m not aware of? Our living room suffers from an identity crisis and I’m ready to face it, but we need professional help.”

Thanks to The Spaniard for sending the above from Hill East: “First batch of blackberries this season”
Thanks to Toni sending the below from Brentwood: The romanesco and cauliflower are the colors they are because of simple sun exposure. They taste the same!”

Please send your hauls to [email protected] and let me know what neighborhood it was grown in. Entries will be accepted through Labor Day weekend. Great Garden Haul is made possible by a generous grant from the Ben and Sylvia Gardner foundation.
To celebrate DC native Haili Blassingame’s debut novel, THEY ALL FALL IN LOVE AT THE END, Lost City Books is throwing a launch party themed around messy love stories. Haili, and a crew of writers she has assembled, will read excerpts from their work, but there will also be audience participation in the form of anonymously submitting messy dating stories. It’s going to be a night of laughter, of gasps, of books, of great company. Refreshments will be available. We can’t wait to see you there!

Back in January we noted that Friendship Macaron Cafe had transformed into Taste of Seoul on 18th Street (the old Meskerem space.) Unfortunately it doesn’t look like they’ll make it through Covid-19.

“Dear PoPville,
I am one of the contact tracers on the DC contact trace force. We started a lot of outreach today to possible cases for coronavirus. We also call people who tested positive to do follow up questioning. A lot of people do not answer the phone from an unknown number.”

Petit Plats has been here as long as I can remember so a refresh makes sense. Updates when we learn more.

“Dear PoPville,
Something truly bizarre unfolded yesterday in Dupont that was captured by our Nest cam. My roommate witnessed it from the door, and at first I dismissed the story when I arrived home but after reviewing the footage this morning (because what else is there to do at 5AM) I have to admit there is some mystery to it and I’m intrigued…
Yesterday [Friday] around 530PM a young man picks up a hose that had been watering a bush along the verge. He approaches and stares down another man walking towards him and hoses the guy down! The sprayer then places the hose down calmly and both individuals walk away. The whole incident took less than 30 seconds and never escalated beyond a “what the hell gesture” from the sprayee.
Unfortunately we don’t pay for storage so I can only provide screencaps [more below], but none of this makes sense. After watching it 4-5 times I have some theories but wanted to put it out there in hopes of hearing from either party involved!” (more…)
