“not sure if this has already been circulated but if you donate blood with the Red Cross, they’ll do a free COVID antibody test! Just went yesterday to their location by the White House and only took about an hour!”

From the Red Cross:

For a limited time, the American Red Cross will test all blood, platelet and plasma donations for COVID-19 antibodies as an additional health service to our donors. This testing may provide critical insight into whether donors may have possibly been exposed to this coronavirus. The Red Cross is committed to helping others in meaningful ways during this pandemic. Mount Vernon Squangle

1017 7th Street, NW

At long last!! Pearl’s Bagels is nearly here (on 7th Street across the street from the Convention Center near the original Passenger location.)

From the owners:

“The day has finally come and we’re going to open this Saturday!

For now, we’ll be doing contactless takeout via online pre-order (the day before) only. Once we get a handle on how many bagels to make any given day, we’ll switch to day-of ordering and ramp up to making all the sandwiches we’ve been planning over the past year. We’ll be selling assorted bagels by the half-dozen, tubs of various cream cheeses, plus “Nana’s Hot Jalapeno Spread” — Allee’s (my wife and business partner) grandmother’s specialty that’s similar to pimento cheese, but hotter and better (in our humble opinion).

We’ll also be selling two build-your-own-sandwich kits. The “Lox Box” will feature Ivy City Smokehouse novalox, Little Wild Things microgreens, capers, pickled red onions, a tomato, and cream cheese; and the “BEC Box” which will include Epic Curing bacon, a half-dozen cage-free eggs, sliced cheddar cheese and a little jar of ketchup. “Dear PoPville,

I am writing with some concern about the test result timeline for COVID testing conducted at public sites in DC. I received a test last Wednesday and was told both verbally and on a printed handout that results would be ready in 3-5 business days (today at the latest). I called the number to receive my results and was told that the timeline is now 5-7 business days. (more…)

“This is Ziggy Stardust and Stevie Nicks. We adopted them on March 22 at 6 weeks old from Lucky Dog Animal Rescue in Arlington. They are now 12 weeks old, and have spent every day with my boyfriend and I in our 700 sq. ft. apartment…needless to say, they have become little lap kittens and will be very confused when we eventually have to go back to work. This is them at 6 weeks.”

“Puck, Shaw. Now that we’re both at home and distracting him all the time, he’s finding creative hiding spots to get some sleep.”
