Huzzah!

From an email:

“We’ve secured sidewalk and street lanes for outdoor dining up at the Quarry House. It will be a fairly substantial cafe seating area wrapping the corner of Georgia and Bonifant, with a large portion composed of a closed off parking lane on Bonifant which will be tented and beer garden-y. The total seating capacity will be 58. Menu [below]; beers will rotate and specials will be boozy shaved ice and pitchers of summer cocktails. (more…)

Jared writes: “Hey PoPville, something doesn’t seem right here…How does DC Board of Elections know the address that the person doesn’t live at if it’s not on the side with the return postage? Am I missing something?”

Jacob replied: “Same concern. The barcodes are not identifying by my understanding. I just taped it with my info on the inside so they could unseal it and find my original address. This is a terrible time to move on so many levels lol”

and Garret: “Had the same question yesterday. To everyone saying “it’s the barcode,” there are only three on the half you return, and those don’t identify you, they just get it back to BOE. Jared’s are the exact same as mine, and yours.”

and Charles: “I have the exact same question. My wife and I got our own notices, plus the notices for five people who must have lived here sometime in the past. We’ve been here since 2016”

Charles also notes a Councilmember Charles Allen Tweet:

“Well, this tweet didn’t age well. Now that I look at the design for anyone with an incorrect address or needing their ballot forwarded, it doesn’t seem this mailer works for those voters. I’m already on the phone with the Board of Elections to find out more & will follow-up.(more…)

Cleveland Park

UPDATE: “The artist is instagram user @perfectionisht and the project is his quarantine coping strategy.”

“Dear PoPville,

About 2 months ago I was walking in Cleveland Park and I found a miniature polymer clay version of “The Scream” tucked into an empty apartment promotional box. I found it delightful. Cut to ~3wks ago when I was telling this patient about my funny little find and asked “oh, you mean the one in Rock Creek?” And my brain exploded. So far I’ve physically found two but I have confirmation of 2 more around Tregaron and Klingle Valley. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

We were longtime customers of wagtime with our rescue who had bad separation anxiety. Wagtime’s website now auto forwards to Dogtopia and there is no mention of wag 2 location. Did wagtime just sell, or go bankrupt or…? Curious if you can find more info. Our family and many other customers had prepaid packages with them too and have received no communication since they closed for the pandemic. If nothing else it would be helpful to know what happened.”
