Does anyone know why almost the entire Capitol grounds have been fenced off for the past week?”

“Dear PoPville,
Might anyone know how to find out who owns a seemingly vacant property?
I just bought a semidetached rowhome about 2 months ago and no one seems to live in the house we are attached to. With all of the rain that came last week my house, along with others down the block, were impacted with flooding. I would like to make sure that there is no flooding (or potential mold issues) in the other house but have no idea who I would contact. Has anyone had experience with this?”

“The Smithsonian will reopen four more of its Washington, D.C., museums to the public Friday, Sept. 18: the National Museum of African American History and Culture on the National Mall; the National Portrait Gallery and the Smithsonian American Art Museum, both located at Eighth and G Streets N.W.; and the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum near the White House.
These locations will reopen with new health and safety measures due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They will have reduced days or hours of operation, and visitors will need to reserve free timed-entry passes to visit most locations.

Ed. Note: We spoke about some basements getting battered in Edgewood here.
“Dear PoPville,
We moved into our brand new construction house in Brightwood/Manor Park 6 days ago and had some major flooding (2-3 feet of water in the basement). The alley and yard funneled directly down into our basement. The drain in our yard and at the bottom of the stairs leading into our basement did nothing and neither did the sump pump (that had a battery backup). (more…)

explore data here
Ed. Note: Yesterday there were 14,592 total positives.
From the Mayor’s Office:
“The District’s reported data for Sunday, September 13, 2020 includes 30 new positive coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, bringing the District’s overall positive case total to 14,622.
The District reported no additional COVID-19 related deaths.
Tragically, 616 District residents have lost their lives due to COVID-19.
The community spread chart is subject to fluctuation because the data is based on symptom onset date. As national demand for testing increases and results take longer to come back in DC and across the country, DC Health has identified a need to increase the reporting lag time by four days to reduce volatility in the data. The most recent data reflects an increase in community spread. To ensure this graph accurately reflects the most recent data, the community spread count is being paused as these adjustments are made.” (more…)
