Dear PoPville

“Dear PoPville,

Has anyone ever had any luck reversing/getting a refund on Uber toll fees on an Uber or Lyft ride from DC to our area?

I recently rode with an Uber driver who did not have an EZPass and chose to take I-66 instead of the toll road which added significant time to the trip. I checked my reciept and was still charged for the toll.

The EZPass is available at no extra cost to Uber drivers and I suppose I’ll be asking or looking for one whenever I board an Uber…”

“Dear PoPville,

I moved out of DC in January for school – I did not break my lease, had all of my housemates confirm, and also tried to replace my vacancy (set up two CL postings, forwarded responses to the housemates, etc.). For a couple months now I’ve been trying to get my security deposit back but to no avail. The landlord/rental company has said they aren’t responsible for it but the housemates are refusing to return my deposit. I’ve contacted OAT but wanted to see what are other avenues to consider. This whole situation sucks because I don’t wanna screw the old housemates over (plus small claims court sounds exhausting) but also I need that money!”

“Friends and neighbors, our last 2020 dinner service will be this Saturday, October 31st, as we prepare to close for the winter. We have truly enjoyed welcoming you back to the patio these past few weeks, and hope to see your familiar faces these next few nights. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I live in 16th Street Heights and I’m wondering if anyone else regularly hears a singular loud boom go off in the evening. I feel like it started in the summer around the time of the nightly protest fireworks, but while the neighborhood fireworks have pretty much stopped, this single loud boom continues. (more…)
