From MPD: “MPD is on the scene of a confirmed shooting in the 600 block of O Street NW. Lookout is for a black Chevrolet SUV, last seen eastbound on O Street NW.”

A reader reported: “10-20 shots fired 7th and o st NW 10:35 pm last night. Police had flashlights out looking for bullets on 7th st.”

“As more Washingtonians hit the streets this summer, Mayor Bowser and the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) are planning a virtual summer road trip for residents as part of the District’s Vision Zero summer safety campaign. The goal: To highlight infrastructure improvements designed to protect pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers by lowering speeds. The Mayor’s $10 million investment in smarter road design and safety interventions is a key part of her Vision Zero plan to eliminate traffic fatalities and serious injuries. (more…)

Event

The DC Concert Orchestra presents Portraits in Time, the last concert in our season themed A World Mosaic. The concert runs approximately 90 minutes with one 15 minute intermission. DCCO commissioned a new work by DC composer Blair Goins. There will be interactive discussions with the composer Blair Goins at performance time and after the concert. “Today, Attorney General Karl A. Racine announced that Getaround, Inc., a car sharing company that operates in numerous cities throughout the United States will be required to pay $950,000 to the District; restitution to car owners that experienced theft or damage to their vehicles while listed on the platform; and revise its business practices after allegedly misrepresenting the benefits and nature of its car sharing services, operating without a license in the District, and failing to pay District sales tax. Crime

From MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District seek the public’s assistance in locating suspects and a vehicle in reference to an Assault With Intent to Kill (Gun) offense that occurred on Thursday, July 22, 2021, in the area of 14th and Riggs Street, Northwest.

At approximately 8:21 pm, members of the Third District heard the sounds of gunshots and responded to the listed location. Upon arrival, members located two adult male victims, both conscious and breathing, suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victims to area hospitals for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

One thing my fiancee and I have been discussing is our disappointment that we haven’t found a single bar around us (AdMo/DuPont/U Street area) that is checking vaccination cards. If there was one that only let in vaccinated people we’d frequent there and I’m guessing many others would do the same. Would love it if anyone had any suggestions to encourage this? Thanks!”
