“Dear PoPville,

I was on a walk through Malcolm X park this morning (Saturday Sept 11) around 11:15 and passed a woman in a Maryland Terps hat in walking in the opposite direction a few times, making eye contact and smiling a few times.

If you are her….same time again tomorrow? Maybe we can take a few laps together.

“Just a normal day of shredding papers for Noodles in NoMA. She’s a former feral cat from NYC who we brought with us to DC and is now “retired.”

Federal Government

From the Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton:

“Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) received a response to her most recent letter to the United States Postal Service (USPS) about delayed and undelivered mail in the District of Columbia. In her September 1, 2021, letter, Norton noted that all eight wards continue to contact her office about late and undelivered mail. USPS described several actions it is taking. Norton said she will continue monitoring USPS in D.C. for the effects of the promised improvements.

Join veteran Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey clown Jim Dandy and award-winning burlesque performer Delilah Dentata for Yolks on You, a brunch-time romp that celebrates the funniest, strangest, and most delightful variety performers they can find.

Over the years, we’ve welcomed burlesque, clown, live music, flow arts, drag, mime, pole, puppets, and a few things we still don’t quite know how to describe … and we’re doing it all again in May!

Dear PoPville

“Dear PoPville,

It seems like the crazies are coming again this Saturday. After what happened on January 6th, I feel like it’s our responsibility as residents of DC to communicate to the crazies how we feel about them bringing the circus to town. I would love to join a counter protest or a demonstration that expresses how unwelcome their cult is in DC. (more…)

Dear PoPville

“Dear PoPville,

I’m in the midst of a weird situation with Uber – wanted to alert others/see if this has happened to anyone else. Called an Uber this morning in DC, driver texted through the app and said he needed a pin/passcode that would be texted to start the ride. I had heard about Uber’s new safety pin feature- got the text, shared the pin. Then, the driver messaged back and apologized and said he needed the pin that got sent to my email b/c the first one expired.

I went into my email, got the pin. Then, we noticed the driver was not moving, so we messaged him back. No answer. Then we called the number in the app. Disconnected. Cancelled ride several times. Driver repeatedly accepted again (same driver). Then, I got kicked out of the app. Logged in, could not change it. My phone number was changed to a foreign number. Tried to reset password via the website, and lo and behold I cannot because the driver activated two step verification on my account, and all the notifications go to him. (more…)
