“Dear PoPville,

We in the neighborhood are incredibly excited about this prospect. The now vacant lot is owned and managed by the city. For years it has been a veritable trash heap. I had been working with the city for months to clean up the site. Realizing we needed to provide the city an alternative aside from simply asking them to clean it up, I started a petition for a dog park to be located here. (more…)


“Dear PoPville,

I need advice on dealing with the aftermath of an incident between my dog and another dog over the weekend. My dog was off-leash and playing in the park, surrounded by several other unleashed dogs, when another unleashed dog approached him. My dog and the other dog circled one another and barked at each other several times before they were separated. I was watching my dog closely the entire time and never saw him put his mouth on the other dog. Two other owners who observed the incident also said they did not see a bite.

“The DC Department of General Services (DGS) and the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) broke ground on the Texas Avenue Dog Park. This will be the first dog park to open East of the River and is scheduled to open in mid-2024 across the street from Plummer Elementary School. (more…)


“Dear PoPville,

On Monday, May 15th, 2023 at approximately 7:30 am, my four and a half-month old puppy was attacked by another dog in Swampdoodle Park in NoMa. The dog entered the park with its owner and bolted straight for my dog, jumping him, and viciously attacking him. Luckily, my dog was at my feet, and with the help of an unidentified good samaritan, they pulled the dog off of mine, stopping the attack. (more…)
