From the DC Office of the Attorney General:
“Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb today announced successful outcomes in two separate appellate cases in which the District sought to hold landlords and developers accountable for harm they caused to DC residents. In one case, the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) secured a decision upholding a Department of Buildings order that requires a developer to fix faulty construction that caused a Ward 4 condo building to sway in the wind, endangering unit owners and the community. In another case, OAG won a decision upholding the validity of rent refunds for 2,500 tenants at Marbury Plaza (now re-named Langston Views), a Ward 8 apartment building where landlords severely neglected the building, endangered residents, and refused to make court-ordered repairs. All fire contained to kitchen.
Cause of fire is accidental/mechanical in nature. @DC_DOB, @_DCHealth, and @PepcoConnect requested to scene.
