As an independent nonprofit organization, we are not part of the federal government, and we continue to welcome visitors, volunteers, and community members every day.

We understand this is a challenging and uncertain time for many, especially for furloughed federal employees and their families.

Our historic grounds offer a place of peace, reflection, and connection. A reminder that even in difficult moments, community endures.

Update from Rich over the weekend: “saw a bunch of equipment on the floor, bins of electronics for payment processing and part of the bar seemed missing.”

Ed. Note: Long time Logan Circle P Street hotspot, Commissary, closed up the block in July 2024. Logan Tavern’s website remains live as does their IG though their IG has not been updated since August 13th.

In the midst of death throes the streetcar saga continues.

In May the Washington Post’s Rachel Weiner broke the big news:

“The DC Streetcar will be phased out after just a little over a decade in service — not much longer than it took to build. In its place Mayor Bowser promises a “next generation streetcar,” otherwise known as an electric bus.

And now she has an update: “A budget cut means the D.C. Streetcar is shutting down in March instead of July 2027(more…)
