I’m still a little staggered from Dos Gringos closing so wanted to share a bit of positive news from Mount Pleasant via the magnificent Martha Dear:

“THERE HAVE BEEN A LOT OF QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR OUTDOOR SEATING LATELY. WE ARE KEEPING IT. IT IS COSTLY. IT WILL SHRINK IN SIZE. THE PROCESS WAS EVERYTHING BUT EASY.

TO SUPPORT ALL THIS, WE ARE LAUNCHING A CURATED OUTDOOR MARKET EVERY OTHER SATURDAY THROUGH THE END OF SEPTEMBER. MAY 16TH WILL BE OUR FIRST MARKET DAY: 11AM – 2PM. (more…)

Ed. Note: After my 12 mile walkabout yesterday, I can confirm SO many streateries down. Frankly just too many to catalogue each one, so unless there is something especially noteworthy about another removal, so concludes our ‘Streatery Down’ coverage. (Most) Streateries are dead, long live outdoor dining (and perhaps streateries again one day! – minus the global pandemic and all…)

“DC Councilmember Charles Allen (Ward 6) introduced emergency legislation to make immediate changes to the cost and design restrictions for DDOT’s streateries rules, with the goal of ensuring streateries remain a viable tool for restaurants and an opportunity to enliven street life.
