“Dear PoPville,

This is a long shot question, but after multiple discussions with my CPA and DC OTR, I am still at a loss. I have a small business and in January 2023 by the IRS we were notified that we received the Employee Retention Credit (ERC) for 2021. This is fantastic news, except now we have to refile our taxes. “Dear PoPville,

Thanks to the Prince’s obsession with exposed brick, I’m thinking of exposing myself. I mean, my brick. I mean, the brick party wall in one room of my 100+ year old Columbia Heights row house.

I would love to hear experiences with this process. Are you glad you did it? Did you find horrors under the plaster? (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I don’t need to rent a car every month so I just threw away $25. (more…)

I haven’t seen a sales tax in other “out the door price” quotes I’ve been offered – just the excise tax – so I wonder if I’m being scammed. (The dealership, for what it’s worth, is near Dulles, and claims to make lots of sales to DC customers.) (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I know it’s a small thing, but I’m curious if others ran into the same issue. It’s never happened to me before.

I tried to get a burrito bowl with chips at the upstairs Union Station Chipotle last night. When I got to the register, they told me the shelf full of chips was for online order only and that they couldn’t sell them at the register. (more…)
