“3 robberies and assaults on 11th st NW”

“Dear PoPville,

There have been 3 occasions now where myself, my partner, and friend have had instances along 11th ST NW between Florida and Fairmont, where muggings have been happening.

My partner had an instance where a black car with tinted windows slowly pulled up, two individuals in the front, two in the back (who came out), assaulted and robbed him and two others.

A week later on the same stretch,

a dark SUV with tinted windows was speeding down 11th toward Florida, started to slow down gradually and pull over. I paused, i had my partner pause, and signaled him to turn around and run with me. The door of the SUV started to open up before we turned, and as we turned, slammed shut and the SUV sped off. This was 100% going to turn into a robbery. The stretch of 11th between Florida and Clifton have literally no where for you to run or hide.

The 3rd time had happened on 11th and Fairmont, en route toward 13th street, where my friend was held at gun point and robbed.

There has been too many close calls within such a short period of time in this general area between 11th – 13th st NW and Florida -> Fairmont. It’s very unnerving.

All of these events happened after 2-3 AM on Friday or Saturday. I’ve been taking an opportunity to take a Lyft home, even if it’s 1 block. Walking in numbers didn’t phase 4 people with ski masks.”
