Check out Quickway Hibachi’s menu here.

“We bring the Teppanyaki (teppan, Japanese for griddle; yaki, grill, broiled) cooking technique to a quick service restaurant setting. The proteins are prepared fresh on the open grill in your full view, a true cooked to order signature dish.

We offer choices of salads, sides, and sushi, all prepared from All Day Fresh™ ingredients and homemade sauces.

Plus, we really care if you have a cool place to eat. We build our space to be clean, convenient and modern.

Of course, our food is healthy, with reduced salt, no trans fat, and no MSG.
And yeah, all this in a value package.

So if you are looking for freakin’ good food, with quick, quality service, then welcome and enjoy!”

shophouse

Alas, Friday 3/17 is the last day to dine at ShopHouse before darkness descends on all locations. And be warned from this morning’s rant/revel:

“Rant: Second to last day of ShopHouse, and a friend who works there told me that locations are already running out of the meatballs! Nooo, I love the meatballs! Hoping Union Station holds out through tonight.”

My sources deep in the shadows of the fast casual world tell me that a group called Bibibop Asian Grill is in talks to purchase the stores. Only scuttlebutt at the moment but you can see their menus here. Updates when/if confirmation is made or some other plans are announced.

A reader reports:

“Been watching this space (and block!) transform a lot over the past two years. Barrilito quietly opened last week in the old location of El Sol on 14th and Randolph, one store front up from Little Coco’s. Little disappointed only because we have so many amazing taco and torta places in the neighborhood already. But I wish them all the best!”

Anyone happen to take an early taste?

Check out the menu after the jump. (more…)

ethiopic
401 H Street, NE

It’s easy to forget with H Street’s status today but when Ethiopic first opened to rave reviews back in 2010 – this was a huge deal and not without obstacles. Huge congrats to Ethiopic (and condolences to the employee):

Hard to believe but here’s what Ethiopic looked like when they first opened seven years ago:
