Big news for the former Axum space in Shaw. A liquor license application has been filed for Po Boy Jim 2:

“New Class “C” Restaurant with 150 seats and a Total Occupancy Load of 180. The licensee has
requested an Entertainment Endorsement to provide Live Entertainment.”

Hours are listed as Sunday through Saturday 11 am – 4 am.

The original Po Boy Jim opened on H Street back in July 2014. Check out their menu here. Updates as they get closer to opening 2.

Is this place good? The menu options look solid for a casual place. I think that location is a bit tricky.

The BBQ shrimp po boy is legit.

Place is legit. Fried oyster po’boy is well worth the price.

Yeah, it’s a pretty underrated place. Everything I’ve had there is solid. The gumbo beats many places in NOLA.

Man, this is great. When I moved here 5 years ago lunch options were really limited for a guy who works from home. So glad to have so many new options now!

Good spot for this. Good drinks and legit Po Boys. Fits with the landscape.

Wow. Glad to hear. I went when they first opened a few years ago. Had the shrimp po boy and fries. Straight garbage. Soggy bread. Limp fries. Got a salt headache afterwards. Every time I passed by it’ was empty. What’s worse is at one point they had a tourist town type barker that would stand on the sidewalk waiving people in convincing them to eat. Their bar has Heineken and Bud Light. Nothing wrong with those beers but know your neighborhood. I thought for sure they’d be closing.

Glad to hear they are apparently doing well and commenters like them. I’ll give them a second shot.
