Hoy moly, thanks to Dominic for sending the action at DC’s first “French-Canadian Disco”:
“Le Mont Royal. 10:10pm Friday night.
They must have been handing out Taylor Swift tickets.
There was a small line of maybe 10 people around 8:30pm and they were taking names and numbers. We were told it would be 45min. By 9:30pm it looked like this. We never got a call. A good crowd and good drinks at Grand Duchess met the moment.”

Chas Jefferson and Bart Hutchins, D.C. hospitality industry friends who bonded over their favorite spots in Montreal and Paris, are the duo behind the concept. Le Mont Royal cranks up the conviviality and maximalism they found themselves craving in a post-COVID world to deliver a natural wine and neo-bistro food-fueled party. Nights at Le Mont Royal will be set to the soundtrack of DJs spinning their house collection of soul, funk, and disco vinyls. Le Mont Royal will be open from 4 PM to midnight on Sunday-Monday and Wednesday-Thursday (closed Tuesday) and 4 PM to 2 AM on Friday and Saturday.

“Dear PoPville,
I was walking in Dupont on 21st and P today (1/5) and noticed that the Valley Brook Tea shop closed! No signs and the space was cleared out. I saw that they moved to a temporary location in the Ven at Embassy Row Hotel around the corner.
I hope they survive since the shop is run by such a lovely couple and we desperately need tea places in the area!!”
