OG Thai-Xing Reopens in LeDroit Park!!

Thanks to Jeremy for sharing the great news that the original Thai-Xing has reopened for business: “I had dinner there last night and it was amazing.”

I believe this location had been closed at least a year, right? Thai-Xing opened their second location, 2020 9th St, NW, near 9:30 Club back in 2014. I’ve always felt that the original location was superior but that could be just cause I’m an old dude. Anyway, great news!!

End of an Era, Scion closed in Dupont Tuesday

“Scion Dupont will permanently close for business Tuesday August 7, 2018. As we approached the culmination of our ten year lease we have been able to reflect upon what an honor it has been to serve the Dupont Circle community but also recognize the time has come to make way for something new and exciting! Etete may be finished but a “New Tavern offering quick-service Ethiopian foods” is coming down the street

On Monday we broke the news of the legendary Etete closing at 1942 9th Street, NW just south of U Street but don’t take that as an indication that little Ethiopia is no more. A liquor license just posted at 1909 9th Street, NW down the street says:

“New Tavern offering quick-service Ethiopian foods. Requesting an Entertainment Endorsement to provide live entertainment. Total Occupancy Load of 125 with seating for 125.”

CherCher Ethiopian reportedly opening another restaurant on 14th Street

A tipster sends word that a lease was just signed for CherCher Ethiopian restaurant at the former Dollar Plu$+ store on 14th between Spring and Perry Place, NW. STAY TUNED.

This is very good news, CherCher was awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand recipient in 2016. The first opened up on 9th Street in Shaw back in 2012.

Sad news from the “Indian food and spice market, cafe, and cooking school”,Pansaari, on July 31st:

“Our journey ends today. But, we are sure many of you will take a bit of Pansaari and it’s food with you on your individual journeys; and that is the only way we would want our story to continue. Thank you for all the love. We leave you with this lovely smile of our fearless leader!

Ed. Note: Pansaari opened back in September 2014 in the former location of Club Chaos, which closed in 2008.
