Martha writes us earlier this morning: “Advice to holiday revelers, traveling through DCA: allow yourself extra time. There’s quite a bit of construction here and the security lines are longer than I thought they’d be at this early hour! Pre-check was faster – but still more people than I thought would be in line at 5:30 a.m.!”

Incidentally – are many folks headed out of town this year? If so, when are you leaving? Coming back? Safe travels to all who are!

“Dear PoPville,

Wanted to share that Capital One Arena changed their bag policy this year and hadn’t seen it posted/talked about anywhere. Their new rules are super strict for bag/purse size and I saw several women including me and my friends who had to pay for a locker to stash it in. We even googled it before going to check, but the top hit is from 2019 and apparently that rule is outdated. Below is the new rule, (more…)

Sara writes: “On Friday night my catalytic converter was stolen from my Prius parked near 16 and U. I know this is a thing but wondering if it is happening to others in the area? Are people protecting their converters? Thanks!”

Unfortunately we got a report about this happening in February and again in September. One reader suggests anyone with a Prius “go buy a shield right now.”

A joint service aerial review (flyover) will take place over the cemetery concurrently with a procession. Aircraft formations from each service will honor the Unknown Soldiers.”

“Dear PoPville,

On Saturday night I was out with a friend in Logan Circle when I used the Uber app to select an UberX to come take me home around 10:20 PM. I was connected with a driver pretty quickly, but she messaged me in the app saying that the map would not show her moving until I gave her my phone number–that there was “an update to the app.” I had recently read about some other sketchiness in Uber on PoPville, so I didn’t respond as I was chatting with my friend about how I thought it was a scam. “Dear PoPville,

Since the pandemic started, I’ve gone on a walk every day before beginning the work day around my apartment in Adams Morgan.

Just now (around 9am), I was about a block away from my apartment next to the Starbucks at the corner of Calvert and Columbia when I was randomly approached by a man in a ski mask. I thought nothing of it, but before I could respond, the man grabbed an AirPod from my left ear and darted over to the plaza directly across the street. (more…)

Thanks to DJ for passing on from DCA:

“The biggest change to Reagan National Airport in more than 20 years is coming just in time for the holiday travel season: two new security screening checkpoint buildings. These consolidated security screening areas will expand shopping and dining options for ticketed passengers and make connecting to flights through DCA easier than ever. (more…)
