I don’t know if it’s just because I’m old but this one hits hard. I remember the excitement of when they first opened, which feels not that long ago… 17 years!!

About a week ago Sticky Rice shared the super sad news:

After 17 unforgettable years, Sticky Rice DC is closing its doors. 💔

This decision wasn’t easy. The pandemic, decreased foot traffic, rising food costs, labor costs, and the impact of Initiative 82 have all made it impossible for us to continue. We fought hard—but it’s time to say goodbye. (more…)

Well I’ve been putting this off because I’ve been hoping for a miracle. In January we posted that “Lou’s City Bar has been closed for a few weeks for a “winter refresh” in Columbia Heights. Hopefully only temporary and not “temporary”…”. Turns out it was “temporary” aka permanent despite best efforts. (more…)
