I have been a resident of Highview and Castle Manor in Columbia Heights for since May 2020. I learned last week that I have paid $9,000 in “air conditioning unit fees” ($150/month) that other residents are not charged (of 8 I’ve spoken to, none of them pay it). These two ancient AC units don’t run during winter have had no maintenance, and cost less than $250 brand new. It’s completely unreasonable to expect this to come out to $9,000 over the course of five years. (more…)

The first annual Consortium art show
For one weekend in September, a private mansion in Upper Georgetown becomes the most beautiful room in Washington. Work by women artists, hung salon-style the way Paris did it a century ago: floor to ceiling, frame to frame, every wall alive. Sculpture on the mantels. Paintings up the staircase. Ed. Note: Yesterday we learned that MPD had arrested a 14 and a 13 year old suspects for robbery on the MBT on Thursday April 24th.

“The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrests of three juveniles in connection to multiple robbery offenses in Northeast.
On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, shortly before 6:00 p.m., Fifth District officers responded for a report of a group of juveniles snatching headphones from victims on the Metropolitan Branch Trail. Officers canvassed the area and with the assistance of MPD’s Helicopter, Falcon One, multiple suspects were located and placed under arrest. Stolen property was recovered.
