What are you up to this weekend? We're celebrating ten years of the Weygandt Wines retail store in Cleveland Park! Many of you already know that Peter Weygandt has been importing wines to the United States since 1987, gaining a national and international reputation for the quality of his selections. While it all started with France, Peter has since expanded his portfolio to include Italian, German, Austrian, Australian, and Spanish wines, and he now represents more than 100 producers. The Weygandt Wines retail store was the next natural step. As you have experienced, the store aims to showcase the value, quality, and diversity of wines in Peter's portfolio, as well as highlight the vision of the producers behind them. All of the wines in the store are produced using sustainable, organic, or biodynamic methods by talented people who are passionate about viticulture and winemaking. Their care and dedication is directly reflected in the wines they produce, and represent why Peter's selections stand apart from the rest. So now, ten years later, we'd like to thank you–our customers–for supporting this vision to bring quality, artisanal wines to the Washington, DC area with a special Saturday tasting sale featuring wines from six of our longest-tenured portfolio producers! It's a chance to relive our shop's journey by revisiting some of our first favorites, all in the company of friends and neighbors. And we're offering special anniversary prices on all of Saturday's tasting wines – shop the sale online through the ➡️ in our bio! – On the tasting table: – => Gerard & Pierre Morin Sancerre Chant de L'Orme (2015) – => Weingut F. Lovely little Dandelion is as sweet as she is striking! This petite sweetie is super affectionate, super quirky, and super ready to find her forever home!

Dandelion may ask you to prove you’re worthy of her love, but once you do, she will absolutely melt into your lap for affection and cuddles. This little lady loves to snuggle, and loves nothing more than resting up against her favorite people, then venturing away for a fun game of mouse-chase, then coming right back into snuggles.

Dandelion is a bit shy, but she has been getting braver and braver every day. She actively seeks out attention, loves to play with crinkly toys, and adores watching birds and squirrels flit about outside her window. She would prefer a quiet home where she can get lots of attention!

For more photos and videos of Dandelion, check her out on Instagram here. To learn how to meet her, please email [email protected].

Bingo walks around like he is thinking about all of the world’s problems at once, seriously contemplating how to feed the hungry and save the environment and make sure everyone has a safe place to live. Or maybe he’s just thinking about cheese? Because he really, really likes cheese. Either way, he’s definitely thinking.

Bingo LOVES to go for short leash walks and has excellent leash manners. He is fine in the presence of other dogs, though he would prefer not to deal with rowdy young ones who want to wrestle. He would also prefer a fairly quiet home without young children who might startle him or forget to approach slowly.

Bingo is an older gentleman with some of the qualities one expects in advanced age — he has lost his hearing and his vision ain’t what it used to be. Neither of these things prevents Bingo from getting wherever he needs to go, including up and down stairs. Or in search of cheese.

Bingo takes a minute to warm up to new folks, but if you make him your friend, he will be a loyal, loving one. He loves curling up in a cozy bed, as long as you’re nearby. He’ll even drag his bed across the room so he can sit close to you! Bingo will be grateful for the chance to live out his life on a soft dog bed in the sunshine by your side. To learn how to meet Bingo, email [email protected].

Capitol Hill

“Dear PoPville,

Wanted to alert readers to be on the lookout for this person who was able to gain access to the Library of Congress daycare earlier this week. He is a known convicted sex offender (his victim was 5!!!).

The system worked – he had no contact with the children, was escorted out, arrested by Capitol Police and charged with unlawful entry. However, parents were notified last night that he has been released.

Capitol Police has issued a BOLO (be on the lookout) for him for the Capitol Hill area, but it appears that his address on record may be the shelter on New York Avenue. If he is homeless and transient, he could end up anywhere in the city.

Wanted to alert readers to be vigilant, as always, but in particular for this person.”

Dupont Circle

Welp, the closure is confirmed. The owner replied yesterday to my queries via email:

“I am sorry happened really fast and since i am there last 18 years it was sad and hard. I will do some other location or always want to go culinary school i don’t know yet. All i know time has come to make some changes in my business life.”

I asked him if the scuttlebutt about Pupatella coming was true and he replied:

“There will be good local people replacing us, it will be good change for the neighborhood. I will alway miss the place and all of you.

Thank you supporting us all those years.

Mumtaz”

Stay tuned on all fronts.
