Dear PoPville

“Dear PoPville,

I live in Park View and for the last several years a woman has been leaving large amounts of cat food in the alley behind my building. Several of my neighbors in my building and on my street have asked her to stop and she basically verbally assaults anyone who comes near her. Unfortunately she is feeding more rats than cats. “Dear PoPville,

I recently got engaged to a wonderful man and we are starting to plan our wedding. He is not a picky person but has one strange request – he wants to roast a pig at our wedding reception (I’m still trying to figure out if he’s joking, but as of now he claims he’s serious).

We’d love to get married in the DMV sometime early 2021, but I am having a hard time finding anywhere that might consider allowing us to dig a hole and roast something. Is this a pipe dream of his that needs to be crushed, or do you know of somewhere we could make a plea?

Thank you very much for your help!”

“Dear PoPville,

I’m in charge of my company’s annual day of service and I’m exploring different ideas and ways for our employees to give back to the community. We’re ideally looking for an organization (can be local or national) that we could partner with to do a companywide event with all of our ~600 employees. The frequent problem I’m running into is that many of our current partner organizations cannot accommodate that many employees at events/volunteer opportunities. Hoping others may know of organizations that could help orchestrate a volunteer event with a group that size.”

Oh no. Not looking good. I’ve gotten a few emails that they’ve been dark but keep forgetting to follow up but now Lauren spots a for sale sign in the window. Their last Facebook message was January 9th. Not looking good at all. Almost exactly a year ago a reader raved about a wonderful experience they had at Seasons and Sessions. Seasons and Sessions opened in the former Black Squirrel space back in November of 2018. Stay tuned.

Amber shares the painful scene this morning from Bloomingdale:

“To Whomever Stole Our S@*t,

I’m of two minds – on one hand, there is avalanche of poverty and inequity and this is only stuff insurance will cover. Your life is a struggle I will never know.

On the other hand, STOP TAKING THINGS! IT’S SO MEAN! MY WHOLE DAY IS RUINED”

It had been 5 days since our last stolen wheels report.

*This series will feature any pets in a backpack/bag. On metro, or not. Corgi, or not.

Thanks to Alisse for sending: “Moment of sunshine in union during the horrendous red line clogging this morning”

Regarding the delays: Earlier Metro Transit Police reported:

“Rockville: MTPD and @mcfrs o/s for trespasser struck by train. Incident did NOT occur at station & was result of individual climbing fence. (There are *no* pedestrian crossings anywhere on Metro.) Rescue operations are underway.”

From WMATA:

“Rockville: All clear, trains have resumed normal 2-track operations. Remember, Rush Hour Promise even covers delays outside Metro’s control like this one. If delayed 10+ min, you’ll get $ back if SmarTrip is registered. You can register before midnight for today’s delays.”
