I was being cheeky last night but Lane’s response got me thinking me should just codify the rules here:

“Self checkout rules:

(A) less than 25 items, and this is very generous;
(B) put your bags out first. You bag as you go;
(C) no more than 5 produce items (meaning things you have to look up);
(D) know how to bag — so heavy first, layer, etc.”

What other rules should be added.

From the Metropolitan Police Department:

“As the Memorial Day weekend approaches, we wanted to take a moment to encourage everyone to stay safe and healthy during this unique period in our history. Many of the food and restaurant venues in the First District will be open for take-out service and we hope our small businesses receive your support. However, remember that the Mayor’s Stay-at-Home Order is still in place. Last weekend we saw some unacceptable gatherings and crowds outside some venues, in some parks, and in some neighborhoods. If not engaged in essential activities, everyone is still required to remain at home. That means returning home after picking up food and not lingering in public areas, even if the weather is nice. When you are engaged in essential activity, when in public or common areas, remember to practice social distancing and to wear a mask.

Today in a public statement, Wolf Trap Foundation’s President and CEO, Arvind Manocha, announced the cancellation of all 2020 summer performances due to the ongoing effects of the coronavirus throughout the Washington DC metro area. “It is with profound sadness that I announce that we are cancelling the Summer 2020 concert season. For the first time in nearly 50 years, the Filene Center and Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods at Wolf Trap National Park and The Barns at Wolf Trap will not host live performances from May through September. The continued health and well-being of the Wolf Trap community of patrons, artists, and staff are of paramount importance to us. Concern for the welfare of all makes summer gatherings for performances unfeasible.” (more…)
