From The Office of the Attorney General:

“Today, Attorney General Karl A. Racine filed a lawsuit against the parent company of Washington Sports Club for failing to comply with the District’s health and safety orders related to COVID-19. In the complaint, the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) alleges that the Dupont Circle location of the Washington Sports Club failed to enforce the District’s mask mandate, set and enforce appropriate social distancing guidelines, and properly disinfect equipment. Through the lawsuit, OAG is seeking civil penalties and a court order requiring the gym to comply with applicable safety regulations. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

When the Vision Zero Omnibus bill was made law at the end of December, part of it was making it illegal to drive a motor vehicle with headphones/earbuds in both ears in the District (unless they are hearing aids).

Ban on headphones while driving pgs 8 and 9 (PDF)

Here’s the link with the timeline that has every date update on the legislation, including when the bill was passed.

I’ve worked with the Council of DC for almost three years to get it added to DC traffic code after almost getting hit by a SUV driver with headphones in in summer 2018, and now it’s officially law! (more…)

From an email:

“Cracked Eggery Cleveland Park: 3420 Connecticut Ave NW DC (target opening May 2021).

The Cracked Eggery journey began in 2019 under a tent at the Cleveland Park Farmers Market. Diners quickly gravitated towards The Mayor (Cracked Bacon, scrambled egg, American & Cheddar cheese, Cracked Sauce). We then launched Abe Froman (Logan’s Sausage, scrambled egg, American & Cheddar cheese, Cracked sauce) and the Southern Charm (Fried green tomato, fried egg, Cracked Bacon, Pimento cheese, arugula, lemon aioli).. The team continued to evolve operations and offerings from their start on a single propane griddle to a food truck warmly embraced by the neighborhood and now, a forthcoming “forever home” in Cleveland Park. The new location will open in May 2021 with early operating hours (6am) and a heavy focus on order ahead/take out and delivery options.

Dear PoPville

“Dear PoPville,

Due to the stress of the DMV and lack of available appointments, I have not changed my car’s registration over from my home state of NC yet. In January I was in an accident and my car was declared a total loss by the insurance agency, despite it only being minor damage. Fast forward to now and my car is finally fixed, but from what I understand I can’t legally drive it unless it gets inspected by the DMV. Is this right? (more…)
