I’m trying to bring my basement condo up to code to pass DCRA inspection for renting it out. The DCRA checklist says “Do all sleeping rooms have adequate emergency escape and rescue openings? (IPMC §702.4)” I currently have fixed bars on both bedroom windows and understand I need to upgrade one of them in order to have an emergency egress. (more…)

From MPD:

“On 7/18/21 at approximately 11:50pm, MPD units were at New Jersey Ave SE & M Street SE when they observed a vehicle that had recently been taken in an armed carjacking in PG County, MD. Ed. Note: Regarding the olympic rings pictured above, from NBC Universal: “The “Rings Across America” experience will open to the public from 11am-8pm on Monday and will also be open on Tuesday from 10am-6pm.”

“Dear PoPville,

The Tokyo Olympic opening ceremonies are airing at 7am ET on Friday because of the time difference. Are any bars in DC opening early for a viewing party? Not saying I’ll necessarily want a beer that early (Or maybe I will. Game time decision.), but it would be nice to watch with a crowd.”

One email I got from Commissary (but please add your recs in the comments):

“Logan Circle favorite neighborhood restaurant, Commissary (1443 P Street NW), will open at 7 am on Friday, July 23 with all TVs and a big screen showing the Summer Olympic Games opening ceremonies. (more…)

Crime

via MPD

“Last Sunday afternoon, July 11, around 5:25 p.m., I was carjacked at gunpoint on the SW corner of Crittenden and 9th Streets NW. I was ordered to drive down what I believe was Buchannan, and ended up in an alley behind 513 Crittenden St, where I was sexually assaulted. The assailant pushed me out of the car and fled the scene.

Here is the police report of the incident.

I’m asking for your help–if you have a security camera (front or rear) or doorbell camera, please check between the hours of 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. that day for any footage that may help the investigation (either footage of the suspect walking around before the crime or driving away afterwards). The suspect was wearing black plastic framed eyeglasses, a white t-shirt, green basketball shorts, and white sneakers. He was a slim build, black male between the ages of 19-22. The car is a white 2012 Chevy Volt with a black roof, license plate MD 9AY5678. (more…)
