Thanks to all who passed on to us the sad news from Haikan:

“After almost 10 years in Shaw, we’ve made the difficult decision to close our beloved Haikan.

The challenges of food costs, Initiative 82 and the economic climate in the city brought us to this decision.

Our last day of service will be Saturday, May 3, 2025. (more…)

“The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is advising all stakeholders to expect a permanent closure of S Street NW between Florida Ave and New Jersey to vehicular traffic beginning March 22, 2025.

S St NW between New Jersey Ave and Florida Ave – The roadway and parking areas along this segment will be permanently closed to motorists beginning March 22, 2025. Pedestrian access will be maintained and promoted, and bike traffic will have designated bike lanes as planned. (more…)
