Thanks to a reader for sending a shot of the new Al Volo Osteria signage – today’s the grand opening! Word on the street was that they soft opened last night and are a very worthy replacement to Pasta Mia!! Anyone take an early taste? Was it as good as their pop ups in Bloomingdale and elsewhere?

We knew it was coming but this feels so weird. Cashion’s Eat Place opened in 1995 and closed in May. Johnny’s Half Shell is moving from 400 North Capitol Street, NW near Union Station.
At least the sign will continue to be a cool neon sign.
Anyway, updates when we learn the opening date.

“Dear PoPville,
A backpack was stolen from my car in Adams Morgan Monday between 115-2pm. The owner is in the military and the backpack contained military awards, passport, birth certificate, checkbook, laptop, medical records..everything! He is so devastated. This was a black, large North Face backpack stuffed and heavy. We assume someone took the laptop and threw the backpack in a dumpster or bushes. The incident occurred in the 2300 block of Champlain St, NW.
Could residents, dog walkers, runners, etc in Adams Morgan please keep an eye out for a black backpack thrown to the side of the streets?

Back in June we heard some scuttlebutt that “Cucina Al Volo set to replace Pasta Mia” but there’s no info on their twitter or facebook and their website is not active. So not clear if they’re still planning on taking over the space (or taking the Pasta Mia name?) or someone else is coming but one thing’s for sure – we’ll know by August 12th!
