Very high up on my eagerly anticipated openings!! Our last update was almost a year ago when we they posted their liquor license placard:

“A fast food casual and café style restaurant with bar which shall serve pizza and Italian food with 94 seats and total occupancy load of 125. Sidewalk Café with 16 seats.”

Now they’re almost ready and hiring. They’re located right next door to Espita Mezcaleria who opened last month at 9th and N St, NW. Stay tuned for an exact opening date for All Purpose Pizzeria soon.

Last month we learned that sandwiches were coming to Smucker Farms. They’re here. And lots more details including the full breakfast menu:

“Smucker Farms of Lancaster County was founded as a retailer and distributor in 2011 to directly connect small producers in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and consumers in Washington, DC.

Now the business is adding another option for people to enjoy Lancaster County product with the launch of a deli and sandwich counter at the 2118 14th Street location. With a combination of DC and Pennsylvania food producers, customers can get the best of both worlds, choosing amongst freshly made Bullfrog Bagels and locally smoked salmon, with meat, eggs and fresh produce from the Mid-Atlantic’s premier farming region.

Most popular so far is the “Smucker Breakfast,” a bagel with egg frittata, bacon, lettuce, tomato, chive cream cheese and hot pepper jelly. “It’s a breakfast BLT I made up last year and, with the launch of the sandwich counter, it had to be on the menu. Paired with Compass Coffee, iced or drip, your morning is basically made,” says owner Eric Smucker. (more…)

I got word recently that the “Black Restaurant Group, LLC (BRG) is excited to announce the reopening of Addie’s Restaurant. BRG has signed a 20-year lease with local developer, Foulger-Pratt, and the restaurant will open in the upcoming Park Potomac Development, located at 12435 Park Potomac Avenue in Potomac, Md.” Anyway it got me thinking about other restaurants that have closed and reopened and ones I’d love to see reopen.

This is a very, very tough question that I’m dying to know your answer. Despite the photo above (and I’d also love to see Yenching Palace resurrected), I would pick Yanni’s in a heartbeat. I still weep when I pass their former location though I do like Medium Rare. Anyway, which restaurant would you most like to see return from the dead?

Ed. Note: Crane & Turtle’s last night of service will be April 23rd and you can see the planned pop ups for the week of April 26 – May 1 here.

From a press release:

“What: ANXO Cidery & Pintxos bar is thrilled to take over Petworth’s Crane & Turtle for a ten night pintxos residency. Lead by Executive Chef Alex Vallcorba, the a la carte dinner service will feature pintxos of varying sizes, including dishes like Stuffed Squid on a bed of ink sauce with sherry vinegar caramelized onions, and Cod Fritters with vizcaína sauce.

A reader reports:

“Bread and Salt has signs on its front door saying it’s closed “for changes coming.” Same message on its website.

The restaurant is well-liked by some in the neighborhood, but it’s a huge space and seems mostly empty much of the time. It was ambitious to open such a large space for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Anyway, we shall see…”

Big Wisconsin Ave news from The Northwest Current – Guapo’s is moving from near the Tenleytown metro to the former Firelake Grill space which has been closed since July 2014 (and was Ruby Tuesdays before that.) The Current reports that Guapo’s had been in their old location for 26 years but “by the end of this year” will be moving down to 4200 Wisconsin Avenue, NW. Some folks I spoke with had hopes and dreams of a Meridian Pint type brewpub coming to the space – but good to see the space finally being filled. You can see Guapo’s menu here. For fans how do you rank Guapo’s versus Cactus Cantina a few block south at Macomb?
