A reader reports:

“I believe this closure took effect today, but wanted to share. It’s likely the result of the drug raid that occurred a few weeks ago. Allegedly, a promoter was selling illegal drugs on their second floor.”

Wait, what?!?!? Anyone else hear about a raid a few weeks ago?

Piola opened in D.C. back in 2013. They’re located right next door to the newly opened Grady’s.

Anyway, they’ve closed:

Back in April we learned about the planned Bowling Lounge, Bar & Grille, coming to Ivy City. Those plans and The Eleanor are now coming to the former Union Social space in NoMa. According to Eater:

“Budding restaurateur Adam Stein is installing the bowling lanes, bar, and video games he originally envisioned for Ivy City inside short-lived Union Social instead, telling Eater that his new entertainment complex, the Eleanor, should be here by late spring.

The biggest modification: putting in four mini bowling lanes — “Think ¾ size duck pin-style lanes, from AMF,” Stein says — a renovation that’s projected to take up to three months. He’s hoping the significant remodel will still allow for around 180 seats inside (current occupancy is 250), plus room for 70-odd people on the outdoor patio.”

STAY TUNED.

Thanks to all who passed on the sad word from Thally:

“Friends, Thally Restaurant has been sold. Our last day will be this Saturday February 3rd. We have loved serving the great community of Shaw and look forward to another location sometime in the near future.”

Thally opened up to very positive reviews back in August 2013.

Thally’s closure follows word this week of these other cosures Bold Bite on 19th Street, Pier 2934 in Georgetown, French Quarter Brasserie (Shaw Bijou’s replacement) in Shaw, Greenberry’s downtown and Drift on 7th in Shaw.

Ed. Note: “Murderers’ Row were the baseball teams of the New York Yankees in the late 1920s, widely considered one of the best teams in history.” Since Declaration will be joining Taylor Gourmet, Chop’t, Chipotle, Roti and RASA and is right near the baseball stadium – I love just the reference. I am not alluding to any actual crimes that have occured in the area.

UPDATE: The press release was way off – Declaration will not be opening “opening until mid-March!”
