Thanks to Craig for passing on word straight from Joe & The Juice‘s HQ at Østergade 26A, Denmark:

“The first [15th and K Street, NW] is set to open in the end of Q1 2018. The second one [17th and L Street, NW] is also within 2018, but I can’t be more specific than that.”

Check out their menus here. Stay tuned for more specific dates as they are learned.

2934 M Street, NW

Tough times for Cajun closings.

Pier 2934 opened in the former Little Viet Garden space back in 2014. Updates when we learn what becomes of the space.

“There are plenty of restaurants on M street where you can find good seafood. But how about a steaming bag of buttery, Cajun-style boil of your favorite catch? Not an overly fancy plated piece of lobster tail that you can nibble on… we’re talking a whole bag stuffed with potatoes and corn as spicy as you’d like to have it. We ditched the fine china. Bring your bibs and your appetite!

Pier 2934 is a family owned establishment that wants to share with the Nation’s Capital the same values we hold: having fun, eating good food, and bringing people together. So come in and enjoy a Cajun boil on a warm summer night with the family on our spacious, yet cozy patio, or meet up with friends at the bar for happy hour and some fried finger food and oysters.
Come for the boil, stay for the beignets

1819 7th Street, NW via Drift on 7th

Thanks to Danny for passing on from Drift on 7th née Fishnet:

“GONE FISHING! It’s been a great run, but the time has come for our little restaurant to Drift off into the sunset. To all of our many friends we say THANKS! Serving you has been our absolute pleasure! Your friends at Drift on 7th”

1330 19th Street, NW

From an email:

Laoban Dumplings will take over the cafe space at Shop Made in DC with new lunch and dinner menus, beginning February 2nd.

Together, Shop Made in DC and Laoban will also launch new event programming for February: a Chinese New Year’s Party on Friday, 2/16 at 8pm; Dim Sum brunch on Saturdays & Sundays beginning Feb. 10; and a weekday dumpling/beer happy hour.

Check out the launch menu after the jump. (more…)

1028 19th Street, NW

This is crazy, a reader reports on Saturday:

“Another casualty on 19th St between K and L. They’re packing it up today.”

This Bold Bite only opened back in October. This space is also formerly home to a Red Robin and Boloco burritos.

A call to the store immediately goes to a “user not available” message. The location is still listed on their website. Did anyone happen to notice if they were open this morning?

STAY TUNED.

391 Morse Street, NE

Pluma is looking great:

“Seasonality via local produce will play a part in the menu, says Arango, but they will also stay true to their brand and carry all their well-known favorites such as kouign-amann, a French cake. As for the name, Pluma means feathers in Spanish and is an expansion on the owners’ Bluebird Bakery brand, a wholesale distributor of baked goods and coffee to 13 coffee shops in the DC region, including the neighboring Union Market.”

Stay tuned for an exact opening date.

More photos after the jump. (more…)

Well this rainy Sunday just got a whole lot more interesting, if you’ve already read Franklin Foer’s The Plot Against America about Paul Manafort in The Atlantic.
