The transformation from Scion to Vintage78 is complete!

“Vintage78, the new modern Persian restaurant from the proprietors of Georgetown favorite Peacock Cafe, will officially open its doors for dinner service on Wednesday, August 28.

Eat DC tweets the big news:

“Roy Boys’ Instagram account announced that they’re planning to open in @CapitolRvrFront this week at 1025 1st St SE (formerly Justin’s Cafe). If all goes according to plan, their doors will be open Thursday afternoon.”

Roy Boys open it’s first location in Shaw earlier this year. Check out their menus here.

“Gogi Yogi, from the team behind Duke’s Grocery and Duke’s Counter, will be the first Korean restaurant in Washington where food is cooked on an open-air grill embedded in each dining table. The new restaurant and bar opens later this week at 1921 8th Street NW.

The menu begins with an assortment of shared appetizers from the kitchen, then focuses on meats, poultry, pork and seafood to be grilled at the tables. Special attention is paid to Banchan, the assortment of Korean appetizers served with the meal. The bar program features 12 varieties of Soju and Korean-inspired cocktails, alongside both Korean and local beers. “We have some great options to enjoy and the menu, just like at Duke’s, is going to always evolve. “Jonathan and Laura Nelms, owners of Supra, announce the late 2019 opening of D.C.’s second Georgian restaurant, Tabla. Tabla will be located at Lamont Street and Georgia Avenue in the Park View/Petworth neighborhood.

The name Tabla comes from a west Georgian word for an outdoor table used to serve the copious amounts of food characteristic of a traditional supra. As fans of Supra and Georgian food will know, “supra” means “celebratory feast.” (more…)

Mandu suffered a devastating fire back in July 2017 and in the words of co-owner Chef Danny Lee:

“No words can describe how good it feels to have guests back in our house on 18th St.”

Mandu was a neighborhood gem and one of the truly great spots in town where you knew you were going to have a awesome meal in a chill atmosphere every single time. Fortunately, Anju is fixing to pick right up where Mandu left off. If not even more so. I took an early taste last night and haven’t stopped smiling since. (more…)
