“Today, known DC restaurateur Erik Bruner-Yang announces the details behind his latest restaurant concept, ABC Pony, opening this fall on the ground floor of NOVEL South Capitol apartments’ West Tower, which began leasing earlier this year. The new developments at the 13-story, two-towered luxury apartment complex will allow for more living and dining opportunities for those exploring Southeast Washington, DC.

ABC Pony will be an all-day eatery with late ’80s and ’90s pop culture-inspired atmosphere and decor. The menu explores the intersectionality between Italian and Asian cuisines and features executive chefs Chris Yates, formerly of Elle, and Paolo Dungca, formerly of Bad Saint and Kaliwa. I know that’s an odd question. But it stems from this tweet I got the other night from Aly:

“Don’t sleep on the Timber Pizza Co empanadas. With pineapple sauce.”

So I, naturally, associate Timber with pizza. But now I’m dying to try this empanda. Anyway it got me thinking of other foods I might be missing out on. I still don’t think this question makes a ton of sense so just tell me the best food item, on or off the radar, available in D.C. today!
