14th and P Street, NW

In late September we confirmed our scuttlebutt that Dolcezza would be closing at 14th and P St, NW (also City Center, Wharf, Dupont Circle, and Bethesda) sometime in October. We now know who’s taking over the Logan space – South Block. The owner of South Block posts on his IG:

“Changing of the guard.

Excited and very fortunate to be opening our 11th @southblock location (and first standalone DC shop) in Logan Circle in the former Dolcezza spot on 14th & P st! Robb (owner of dolcezza) and I are friends… he and his business have been an amazing part of this community for years. We have big shoes to fill and I hope we do you proud! I look forward to seeing your awesome gelato in stores nationwide! (more…)

540 Penn Street, NE via Coconut Club

From Coconut Club:

“Hey friends, Chef Adam and Emily here with some unfortunate news.

Due to circumstances outside of our control, this Sunday, October 18th will be our last service until further notice. Our plans are to close for fall and winter, with reopening plans for 2021. We hope this isn’t goodbye forever and we can come back to vacation with you soon.

This past year, we have fought long and hard to stay positive, innovative, and keep the good vibes going for you all. Coconut Club has always been more than just our cool concept, it’s our community. We would be nothing without our team, our guests, our Coconut Club Crew. We want to give a huge thank you to everyone past and present who has helped us along the way. The memories of you all in this place will live on long after this is all over.

That being said, let’s make this last week a good one. Come get your cocktails and bites to go, or on the patio. We will also have a market of merchandise, wine & beer so don’t miss out on that either.

Thursday 5:00pm-9:30pm
Friday – Saturday 5:00pm-10:00pm
& Sunday 12:00-5:00pm

Stop by and support if you can, we’d love to see you. If you’d like to support our team, we have set up a GoFundMe to give you the opportunity to say thank you. 100% of donations will go to staff directly. Thank you all for your patronage over the 1.5 years – we couldn’t have done it without all of you. We can’t wait to come back and give you all that needed vacation from the world.

With love and gratitude,
Adam, Emily & the Coconut Club team”

Thanks to a reader for passing on this GoFundMe:

Thanks to Cate for sending:

“SakuSaku Flakerie, a local, women-owned business is operating out of Al Volo in Cleveland Park (3417 Connecticut Ave, NW.) Their food is legitimately amazing and they have the old Firehook back patio for hanging out with your coffee. I’d love for them to stay and become a staple of the neighborhood and would love to get people out and supporting them.” (more…)
