“Bar Japonais is arriving soon to 14th Street and is excited to provide a sneak peek of their opening menu. The team behind Bar Chinois, Dean Mosones, Mark Minicucci, and Margaux Donati, are launching the new izakaya restaurant next month.
The French-Japanese restaurant will be open for dinner six days a week with a focus on shareables and a creative drink menu. The menu ranges from inventive and traditional skewers and appetizers to refreshing salads, fresh sashimi and hand rolls, enticing mains and delectable desserts. (more…)

Before Bar and Lounge 54 this space was home to Tulips. Before them this space was home to Irish Whiskey (RIP $1 Champagne Brunch) and of course before them the legendary, in certain circles, Porter’s.

Baan Mae (1604 7th Street, NW) just opened up in the old Hanumanh space. It’s owned by the same people behind Thip Khao and the idea is to serve the kind of food you’d find in your Laotian mom’s kitchen. Food is fantastic and we really enjoyed the creative drinks (like tequila, calamansi, and orange blossom).” (more…)
