“On today’s date at approximately 7:45 p.m., patrol members of the Third District conducted a field investigation in the 3000 block of 14th St. N.W. The investigation of the members led to the on scene recovery of a handgun and the arrest of the individual who was in possession of the handgun.

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the 600 block of N Street, Northwest on Wednesday, August 3, 2016.
At approximately 10:04 pm, members of the Third District responded to a call for a shooting. Upon arrival on the scene, members located two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to area hospitals, where the first victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The second victim was admitted in stable condition.
The decedent has been identified as 19-year-old Derryk Johnson, of Northwest, DC.”

“The Metropolitan Police Department seeks the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect in connection with an Assault with the Intent to Commit 1st Degree Sexual Abuse offense that occurred in the 1600 block of 35th Street, Northwest.
On Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at approximately 1:10 am, while walking in the area, the victim was approached by a suspect from behind. The suspect brandished a knife and assaulted the victim with the intent to sexually assault her. The suspect was chased off by a concerned citizen and was seen fleeing on foot southbound on 35th Street, Northwest. The suspect may have then gotten into a silver vehicle. The victim did not sustain any injuries.
The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’9’’to 5’11 in height, and might have spoken with an accent. He was wearing dark clothing with a hood and gloves.
Anyone who has information regarding this case should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information may be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.”

“Nicholas Young, 36, of Fairfax, who is employed as a police officer with the Metro Transit Police Department, was arrested today on charges of attempting to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization. Young will have his initial appearance here at 2 p.m. today in front of U.S. Magistrate Judge Theresa C. Buchanan.

According to the affidavit filed in support of the criminal complaint, Young has been employed as a police officer with the Metro Transit Police Department since 2003. Law enforcement first interviewed Young in September 2010 in connection with his acquaintance, Zachary Chesser, who one month later pleaded guilty to providing material support to terrorists. Over the next several years Young had numerous interactions with undercover law enforcement officers and a cooperating witness regarding Young’s knowledge or interest of terrorist related activity, many of which were recorded. Law enforcement also interviewed Young’s family and co-workers. Several meetings Young had with an undercover law enforcement officer in 2011 included another of Young’s acquaintances, Amine El Khalifi, who later pleaded guilty to charges relating to attempting a suicide bombing at the U.S. Capitol Building in 2012. “Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred in the 1800 block of Newton Street, Northwest on Tuesday, August 2, 2016.
At approximately 4:35 am, members of the Fourth District responded to a call for a stabbing. Upon arrival on the scene, members located an adult male victim, inside a residence, suffering from an apparent stab wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The offense is domestic related.
The decedent has been identified as 32-year-old Pedro Sixto Esparragoza, of Northwest, DC.
On Tuesday, August 02, 2016, 28-year-old Edy Dinora Portillo Martinez, of Northwest, DC, was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder while Armed.”

“The Metropolitan Police Department seeks the public’s assistance in identifying and locating two suspects in connection with a Kidnapping and First Degree Sexual Abuse offense that occurred in the 600 block of T Street, Northwest.
On Saturday, July 31, 2016, at approximately 12:00 am, while walking in the area of 600 T Street, Northwest, the victim was approached by two suspects. The suspects kidnapped the victim, and took her to the rear of the 3200 block of 28th Street, Southeast, where she was sexually assaulted.
The suspects are described as:
Suspect one is described as a black male, in his late twenties to early thirties in age, light complexion, low haircut, wearing a brown polo style shirt, blue jeans, and a hat.
Suspect two is described as a black male, in his late twenties to early thirties in age, dark complexion, low haircut, and plastic black oval shaped eyeglasses.

On Thursday, July 28, 2016, at approximately 8:00 am, while walking in the area of Montana Avenue, Northeast, the victim was abducted by three suspects. The suspects were last seen operating a dark colored SUV or van, where they drove the victim to an undisclosed location and sexually assaulted her.
