From the Neighborhood Restaurant Group:

“Shelter will be one of two bars in the 12,500 SF space (the other, of course, being Show of Hands). It will have many of the key design elements that one would expect from a Greg Engert beer bar: a large number of taps (50 to be exact), a temperature-controlled system, rigorous line cleaning, and extensive glassware – all important elements that ensure the beers we’re serving taste exactly as they would if the guest were to enjoy them at the brewery from which they came. With near frenetic-rotation, Greg plans to pour close to 1,000 different beers annually on draft. (more…)

From a press release:

In celebration of Festbier’s Tap Room release and the new, colorful can design, guests are invited to party with the Atlas team at The Midlands Beer Garden on Thursday, August 1. (more…)

From a press release:

“The seventh annual Awesome Con returns to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center from Friday, April 26, to Sunday, April 28. Before then, guests can visit outstanding area restaurants and bars, including The Capital Burger, City Tap Penn Quarter, Espita Mezcaleria, Iron Horse Tap Room, Jackpot, Lost & Found, Morris American Bar, Moxy Washington, DC Downtown, and Penn Social.

Hop Bot is generously hopped with funky Citra and juicy Mosaic hops. Atlas adds wheat malt to the grain bill of the pale ale to give the beer a robust body and silky mouth feel that perfectly complements the floral and citrus flavors from two of the brewery’s favorite hops. The blend was derived to play off the iconic robot face that has become emblematic of Awesome Con since it began in 2012 and will be used on the cans and tap handles at participating locations.

“We’re so excited to partner with Awesome Con on this exclusive beer,” said Atlas Brew Works Founder & CEO Justin Cox. “Atlas can’t wait to host attendees at the brewery and for the DC community to try this stellar collaboration.” Ron Brister, Vice President of Events at LeftField Media, LLC, producer of Awesome Con, added that, “This convention has always been about the local fans of all kinds of pop culture. It seemed appropriate as we keep growing to partner with an outstanding brand like Atlas to bring some local flavor to the fans.”

From a press release:

On the evening of Tuesday, April 9, the NoMa Parks Foundation will turn on the power for Lightweave, a dynamic and compelling light installation in the L Street NE railway underpass. Comprising six spiraling lattices of stainless steel and bent LED tubing suspended above the underpass sidewalks — three above each passageway, hung from freestanding armatures — the artwork will light up the space 24 hours a day, with LED colors changing and moving in response to sound waves from the sidewalk spaces and vibrations from trains passing overhead. Lightweave is the second of the NoMa Parks Foundation’s planned underpass “art parks” to open and was designed by interdisciplinary San Francisco art and design firm FUTUREFORMS. The first art park — Rain, in the M Street NE underpass — opened in October 2018. (more…)
