Astro Beer Hall, a two-level beer hall and full-service coffee shop coming to former Mackey’s/Laughing Man Tavern space dowtown

1306 G Street, NW

From a press release:

“The owners of Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken, Elliot Spaisman and Jeff Halpern, together with Tin Shop – a creative bar and restaurant development group founded by Geoff Dawson and Peter Bayne – announce the opening of Astro Beer Hall, a two-level beer hall and full-service coffee shop. Astro Beer Hall will be located in the Mackey’s Public House space, at 1306 G Street, NW, adjacent to the original Astro Doughnuts.

Astro Beer Hall will be an all-day counter service bar, coffee shop and restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, happy hour and dinner with an expanded menu of Astro’s beloved fried chicken and doughnuts alongside a newly developed offering of bar snacks, salads, made to order cake doughnuts and more.

In addition, Astro Beer Hall will boast a full-service coffee program using La Colombe beans and serve a variety of beers from 20 taps. Chef Chris Kujala from Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken will oversee the menus at both locations. The 11,000 square foot space has been reimagined and redesigned featuring imagery with astronauts and space exploration, a game room with Asteroids, Ms. Pacman, pinball and more. Guests will be able to watch sports and special events with additional TVs being installed in the downstairs seating area.

The redesigned space is set to open in late summer, with next door’s original Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken remaining fully operational throughout the remodel. Once Astro Beer Hall opens, Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken’s original location will remain take-out only, with the expanded ability for guests to dine-in next door, if desired. Astro Beer Hall will serve as a place for breakfast, lunch, happy hour, and dinner with counter service and bar, booth and high-top seating throughout the two-level space.”

Finding a gift for moms can be difficult. Google “Mother’s Day gifts,” and you’ll scroll through endless lists of beauty products, candles and fuzzy robes. Sure, those are sweet, but sometimes it’s fun to surprise loved ones with something a little more, well, practical!

Here’s one idea: Give her a gift certificate for a home cleaning from Well-Paid Maids. It’s the perfect “thank you,” “I love you” or “you’ve got this” for any mom. She can schedule the home cleaning at her convenience and breathe easy knowing she has one less thing to do.

Our cleaners will take care of everything, including vacuuming and mopping as well as cleaning and dusting countertops, tables, mirrors, appliances and more. Sinks, toilets, showers and appliance exteriors also get a good scrub.
