From Meridian Pint’s owner John Andrade:

“MERIDIAN PINT IS MOVING TO ARLINTON, VA

We would like to take a moment to thank all our customers, staff, local breweries and overall supporters who have made Meridian Pint in Columbia Heights their home for the past 9 years.

We are honored to have served you the best American Craft Beers in the city along with having been your neighborhood gathering place for so many years. We are proud to have brought you a safe community space to cheer on your favorite teams, meet new friends, host great events, and spend time with the people you care about. We thank you all for believing in us and having made us part of what you love about being in DC.

During the last 9 years a lot has changed in regards to the evolving needs of our staff, our customers, our lives and our city. With change comes new opportunities for us all to grow in different directions. Therefore, we are very excited to announce that Meridian Pint will be moving to Arlington, VA to expand our passion for American craft beer into Northern Virginia. As a result, we are sad to announce that our Meridian Pint Columbia Heights location will have it’s final Easter Brunch on Sunday, April 21st, 2019 then permanently close at 4pm. (more…)

From a press release:

On the evening of Tuesday, April 9, the NoMa Parks Foundation will turn on the power for Lightweave, a dynamic and compelling light installation in the L Street NE railway underpass. Comprising six spiraling lattices of stainless steel and bent LED tubing suspended above the underpass sidewalks — three above each passageway, hung from freestanding armatures — the artwork will light up the space 24 hours a day, with LED colors changing and moving in response to sound waves from the sidewalk spaces and vibrations from trains passing overhead. Lightweave is the second of the NoMa Parks Foundation’s planned underpass “art parks” to open and was designed by interdisciplinary San Francisco art and design firm FUTUREFORMS. The first art park — Rain, in the M Street NE underpass — opened in October 2018. (more…)

From All Purpose (79 Potomac Ave, SE):

“All-Purpose in Capitol Riverfront will be launching their new “Head to Head Series” for the Nationals Opening Weekend March 28 – 31.

For select series in the 2019 season, All-Purpose will pit local brews from DC Brau against a brewery from the city of the visiting team in a friendly competition at the restaurant before and after the games.

The first series is March 28 – 31 when the Nationals face the Mets and All-Purpose Capitol Riverfront will feature DC Brau’s Joint Resolution and Full Count as well as New York-based SingleCut Beersmith’s Weird & Gilly IPA and Plaintop Pilsner.

All-Purpose in Capitol Riverfront will now be open Monday – Friday at 5pm and will open two hours before the first pitch for all weekday home games

From Bluejacket (300 Tingey St, SE):

“Opening at 10am, we’ll have no fewer than 5 classic lagers on tap, including a brand new Dunkel, They Both Melt. This dark lager is crisp and refreshing, with toasty, nutty malt richness punctuated by herbal German hop notes. Subtly nuanced and balanced, They Both Melt has been traditionally lagered for 6 weeks and is naturally carbonated.

Bluejacket will pour an array of hop-forward juicy brews (5-6 total) on Opening Day as well, with a fresh batch of Perfect Places, our hazy IPA brewed exclusively with Nelson Sauvin hops, leading the list. For the second year in a row, we are releasing Perfect Places on draft and in a special, commemorative can for Opening Day. We’re also debuting Keener Sounds, a tart blond ale finished with key limes and vanilla beans. Nats fans can expect a few more fruited sours to round out this list as well (including new batches of Hurricane Alley, our Passionfruit sour ale, and Wallflower, a sour ale dry-hopped with Citra and Galaxy).

Chef Marcelle Afram will fire up the outdoor grill for the occasion, and we’ll have a handful of special cocktails and wines by-the-glass, as well.

From Craft Beer Cellar:

“In its ongoing efforts to bring amazing beer to people, Craft Beer Cellar DC will begin offering crowlers for sale beginning Wednesday, March 27. Friday.

Crowlers, or can-growlers, are 100% recyclable one-use containers that are filled and sealed, allowing consumers to transport draft beer home for later consumption.

Craft Beer Cellar DC worked with DC City Council Ward 6 Councilmember Charles Allen and the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration (ABRA) to amend the law to allow off- premise retailers to sell crowlers. Previously, retailers were only allowed to sell draft beer to go in growlers, a reusable container. (more…)

625 T Street, NW also bordering Florida Ave

This is in that little triangle parking lot across the street from the Howard Theatre and Right Proper. I passed by while Voodoo Brewery were setting up Saturday morning out of that shipping container and was told they’d be there this weekend and next weekend and possible longer. Did anyone happen to stop by?

Here’s what they were serving: (more…)
