“The Washington Capitals and Devils Backbone Brewing Company announced today Capit-Ale India Pale Ale, an easy drinking, hoppy brew.”

From the Capitals:

“The Washington Capitals and Devils Backbone Brewing Company announced today Capit-Ale India Pale Ale, an easy drinking, hoppy brew. Beginning in September, 16 oz. cans will be available for purchase at Capital One Arena through the conclusion of the 2019-20 NHL season. The beverage will also be available on draft at select retail locations in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C.

Capit-Ale will be available in two can designs, launching with a can featuring the Capitals mural installation at L’Enfant Plaza, designed by the Washington, D.C., based artists BroCoLoco. The Capitals partnered with BroCoLoco and local artists to install murals across several neighbors in the Washington, D.C., region.

In addition, fans are invited to submit original artwork for a second can’s design July 22 through Oct. 18. Cans featuring the winning artwork will be available at Capital One Arena in January 2020. The winner will be selected by Devils Backbone Brewing Company and the Washington Capitals, judged on the criteria of creativity, originality and the representation of Devils Backbone Brewing Company and the Washington Capitals. In addition to having their artwork on the can, the winner will receive tickets to a Capitals game, a framed version of their art that is autographed by Capitals players, and have their piece hung in the Capital One Arena Devils Backbone bar.

“At Devils Backbone we’re all about slowing down and enjoying the finer things in life,” said Devils Backbone COO Hayes Humphreys. “Few things are finer than enjoying a Caps victory with friends, which is why we’re so excited to partner with the Washington Capitals on Capit-Ale. We’re confident that world class beer and world class hockey will make an excellent pairing for the upcoming season.”
