From a press release:

From an email:

Ivy and Coney, located at 1537 7th St NW in historic Shaw, is proud to announce the triumphant return of the most important pop-up of the year, the amazing “Chai-vy and Cohen-y” Hanukkah Bar. From December 1st through Chinese-Food-and-a-Movie Day of the year 5779, the Manischewitz shall flow, the dreidels shall spin, latkes shall be noshed. Guests can expect a winter wonderland of awe-inspiring decorations created by the design firm The Maccabeasts, while sipping on cocktails custom-tailored to the occasion.

This year’s design theme will celebrate Hanukkah as the red panda of winter holidays. The theme will highlight how both the Jewish holiday and Ailurus Fulgens have played second fiddle to their more popular brethren. Cocktails from our Head Shicker Specialist, John Becker, will run the gamut from “The Fire Within” (shot of fireball, Manischewitz back) to “My Ashkenazi BF or Panda?” (Manischewitz, rocks glass) to “Fur BallMitzvah” (rum, coke). Guests should look forward to pictures of Rusty, DC’s premier zoo house escape artist, and impromptu wiki-fueled lectures on the red panda. (more…)

Hang on to your hats but we’re officially 12 years old!! Thank You for making that insanity a reality. Truly. As when I turned 12 years old, let’s lift a few to celebrate!! (I’m just kidding, mom.) I’ll be at Solly’s (upstairs) starting around 6pm and I’ll be there until 10:30/11 depending on how hard I hit the Powers. But seriously, I do want to thank everyone for making my dream a reality. I do not take it for granted. So let’s prost!! Hopefully see a few of you tomorrow night.
