From a press release:
“Mornings are more productive with a little caffeine, and after April 14, evenings will be more pleasant with the addition of more menu options including wine, craft beer, and small plates at the existing Cathedral Commons Starbucks. The “Evenings” store concepts have debuted throughout the country since 2010, and the Cathedral Commons location will be the very first in the Washington, D.C. region. Consumer eating habits have evolved into a pattern of snacking on small meals throughout the day, which helped influence the small plate assortment in Evenings stores. Starbucks partnered with various wine chefs to identify the perfect complement to the wine and beer selection as well as coffees. The Evenings wine and craft beer assortment is a reflection of the tastes in a variety of regions across the U.S., resulting in a combination of local and regional favorites that will rotate over time.”

A reader hears:
“Apparently on the first floor of The Elysium building currently being built across from Trader Joes is a Starbucks that will feature alcohol. The area is getting a TON of new coffee shops … but not complaining because they’re all so packed!”

Jamie Petkov reports: “Dolcezza under construction in Georgetown.”
Ed. Note: I thought this spot was supposed to permanently close for a big redevelopment at one point? Anyone else remember that? Anyway, glad to hear they’ll reopen!

Thanks to the The District Table for tweeting us the news:
“We are happy to announce that The Duality Bar has found it’s first home at @bin1301winebar. We will begin Friday 4/1/2016 6am to 3pm Monday thru Friday. We are featuring Gold Cup Coffee as our house blend and espresso which is a DMV local Roast as well as various pastry options.”

Following in Filter’s footsteps and then some…
“Dear PoPville,
Interested to hear what the PoP community has to say about A Baked Joint banning “study materials.”
In the City Paper article, they compare themselves to Le Diplomate… which is a little much. For one, there are no servers, and not a particularly long wait for a table outside of peak weekend brunch hours (when it’s very noisy, and I imagine few people are studying anyway). There’s already no wifi, so I rarely see people “glued to screens.” (I live nearby and go about 3-5 times per week at various times of the day). (more…)

Over the summer a reader sent some scuttlebutt saying a new coffee spot, likely a Philz coffee, would be coming to the new Manhattan Development. They were close – instead of San Fransisco it’ll be more Philly coffee – La Colombe. Washington Business Journal reports:
“1346 Florida Ave. NW: Interior fit-out of space in this Douglas Development building, its Manhattan Laundry project, for a new 2,500-square-foot La Colombe cafe.”
This will be the third La Colombe in DC after the one in Blagden Alley and Chinatown.

God dang it, they closed way back in November – how come nobody told me? Last month we learned about the ownership change in Columbia Heights. Their Friendship Heights location closed back in 2013 (now a Le Pain Quotidien.) Actually a Le Pain Quotidien would probably kill in NoMa…

In other breaking NoMa news – ok I’m kidding about the bus depot but why is the development taking so long?

Maybe not a terrible thing because their marketing is suspect:
