I wonder if it’ll be as good as LL Bean’s… Anyone going?

  • I think the Capitol tree always looks nicer tree than the National tree. The Capitol relies on lots and lots of lights, while the National tree always has those big bulky ornaments that look OK from far away but not up close. But any Christmas tree is better than no Christmas tree!

    • Yeah… honestly Nat’l Christmas tree is in serious need of an updated, perhaps more classic and minimalist look. It looks like it fell out of a bad ’80s Christmas special now. I understand they want to make it clearly visible from far away, but dang tree– you be ugly.

      • It’s ugly, even from a distance! Glad I’m not the only one who thinks the National tree should be updated. But of course, if the decorations *were* different this year, God knows what kind of nefarious motivation the Obama-haters/Fox News would attribute to the change.

The L.L. Bean tree in that photo is gorgeous!

  • Agree. The National tree is not decorated well. When my wife and I moved here in 2000 we were really surprised at how bad it looked, and it’s never improved. So, no, I won’t be going.

  • I wish I could go see Ellie Goulding perform, but I can’t leave work. Bah!

  • I’m going and I’m super excited! No, the tree isn’t the greatest looking thing in the world, but the lighting ceremonies are fun and there’s a pretty good lineup performing this year. I went back in 2007 when you could still get tickets from lining up but have been unlucky in the lottery until this year, so I was happy to have luck this year!

  • I tried to get tickets to the lighting….they must’ve known I was a republican!

  • Isn’t there a new national tree? I think the one that was there for 25-30 years blew down in a storm this year. I wonder if they’ll change the decorations.
