Union Station

“The DC Department of Health recently posted the inspection report online and boy, is it a doozy.”
“Observed no handwashing during the course of the inspection.”
“Observed live cockroaches on the service line.”

Thanks to a couple readers for sending word about the Chopt in Union Station closing due to a health code violation. The Department of Health notice was posted around 1pm.
Thanks to Will for sending the coming soon for Blue Bottle coffee at Union Station. Looks like it’ll be on the main floor near the Laduree. Finally some competition for the Starbucks(es). In other Union Station news, which there seems to be a tremendous amount lately, Grant sends a photo of a new salon on the lower level:

“METRO reports Red Line Train service suspended between Judiciary Square & NoMa due to fire department activity at Union Station. Bus service requested.”
WMATA reported around 2:45pm:
“Red Line: Trains single tracking btwn NoMa & Judiciary Square due to fire dept activity at Union Station. Expect delays in both directions.”
Update from Alert DC:
“DC FEMS reports the Fire Department Activity at Union Station is now clear.
Additional Information: METRO reports that they are single tracking between NoMa and Judiciary Square.”
Whew.
4pm Update from WMATA:
“Red Line: No longer single tracking. Residual delays continue in both directions following fire dept activity at Union Station.”

Well, we don’t have Union Station to kick around anymore. UNIQLO was a harbinger indeed.

“Was just checking out Union Station’s website randomly for store hours and saw a ton of pretty great things listed as “coming soon” including Blue Bottle, Chick-Fil-A, Magnolia, and Warby Parker.”
And don’t sleep on the sale at The Body Shop!!
Yesterday the X2 Bus tweeted:
“looks like nine west and art of shaving are closed at union station. probably 2,000 square feet of retail here.”
Presumably the Warby Parker will take much of that space. STAY TUNED.
Ed. Note: Blue Bottle Coffee also has plans for Logan Circle[?], The Wharf and Union Market and have already opened in Georgetown.
Last year’s tree
I can honestly say no. But I love the Christmas Tree they give to Union Station every year!! From the Union Station Redevelopment Corporation:
