“Magnolia Bakery, the cult New York City bakery cherished for their freshly baked, classic American desserts, will open this September in Union Station.”

Back in January we first broke the news that a Magnolia Bakery (and many others) was coming to Union Station. We just got word that they’ll be opening in September! Here’s the full press release:

“Magnolia Bakery, the cult New York City bakery, cherished for its freshly baked, classic American desserts, is thrilled to announce that it will soon open inside Washington, D.C.’s historic Union Station. Upon debuting, the brand will introduce its signature cupcakes, cakes, cheesecakes, cookies, icebox desserts and more to the Nation’s Capital.

Founded in New York City’s West Village in 1996, Magnolia Bakery first gained a reputation for its charming vintage decor, inviting atmosphere, and fresh-from-scratch desserts. Numerous features on hit television series such as “Sex and the City”, “Saturday Night Live,” and the film “The Devil Loves Prada,” further reinforced the bakery’s position in the pop-culture zeitgeist. Today, under the ownership Steve Abrams, the brand has been thoughtfully expanded from its original West Village shop to locations across the United States and worldwide.

“We are excited to be part of the continued expansion of Union Station and share our desserts with D.C. locals and visitors to the Nation’s Capital,” said Steve Abrams, Magnolia Bakery’s CEO. “We have been looking forward to opening in D.C. for some time and are excited to have found such a great partner in the Union Station team for our first location.”

The Union Station location will feature Magnolia Bakery’s iconic favorites, all made from scratch and on-site. Signature highlights include Banana Pudding with vanilla wafers, fresh bananas and creamy vanilla pudding; Red Velvet Cake topped with whipped vanilla icing; Key Lime Cheesecake made with a graham cracker crust; and Sea Salt Caramel Cookies made with chocolate chunks and handmade sea salt caramel, in addition to both classic and signature cupcakes, cookies, cakes, pies, and more.

Magnolia Bakery will be located inside Union Station at 50 Massachusetts Ave. NE Washington, DC 20002 and will operate Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.”
