In a call to the Beacon Hotel I was told that BBG was closed for renovations. If all goes well they hope to open back up mid-late next year, possibly in August.

OK kids gather round as old man Dan takes you back to the DC of another age. I’m going to tell you a little story about December 19th, 2009. There was a time when organized snowball fights first emerged in DC. Thanks to cellphones, the internet/Facebook and a little mischief word quickly spread. And we hadn’t had a really good snow in a while so folks were pretty giddy about what would become known as snowpocalpyse/snowmageddon (the snow storms from December 2009 into January/February 2010.) Knock wood, knock wood.

We’ve gotten so many messages about the Green line here that I had about given up hope. Metro GM Randy Clarke with some hopeful words:

“Team thinks we have a fix to this long standing 🟢🚇 issue in this area. Long story but it’s an electrical anomaly connected to track in that area. During the extended maintenance single tracking later this month team is hoping to resolve part of issue. Thx for patience.” (more…)

D Light first opened here back in November 2021. Went through some tough times over the years.

I was walking in Adams Morgan yesterday and came across the owner of Dlight cafe whom I know well. She informed me that they have permanently closed down. So unfortunate for the neighborhood. It was sold by the original Ukrainian sisters to this owner in January 2024. (more…)
