“Dear PoPville,

Ukraine Focus, a Washington-based nonprofit that delivers ambulances and lifesaving medical supplies to Ukraine, has adopted the city block in front of the Russian embassy, through DC’s Adopt-a-Block program. On Saturday, August 15, volunteers with the organization and the community will pick up trash on the city block in front of the Embassy of the Russian Federation, and celebrate the installation of signs recognizing the adoption by the DC government.”

“The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool has been partially refilled to allow National Park Service staff and contractors to flush the pool’s piping system for the first time in more than a decade. After years of neglect by previous administrations, more than half of the 58 water supply ports were so clogged that they were deemed nonfunctioning. The flushing may temporarily discolor the water as buildup in the pipes is cleaned out.”

A massive week of sign news continues.

Back in January, jeeze it’s been a minute hasn’t it?, we broke the news that the GM from Across The Pond would be opening Dupont Public House in the old Sign of the Whale space. They were hoping to open up for the World Cup but that obviously didn’t happen so it’s nice to see some progress with the new signage up! (more…)
