From a press release:
“Bandoola Bowl, a Southeast Asian salad shop from 25-year restaurant industry veteran Aung Myint, announces an April 23 opening date at 1069 Wisconsin Avenue NW in Georgetown. The 2000-square-foot, two-story fast-casual concept explores Burmese cuisine, which often carries the scents and flavors of neighboring China, Thailand, and Vietnam, through approachable, ingredient-packed salads. Myint opened family-run Burmese dining staple Mandalay in Silver Spring, Md. in 2004, and worked with his mother, Mandalay’s head chef Hla Hme, to develop the recipes for Bandoola Bowl’s menu. A couple months ago we reported that Panas Gourmet Empandadas were shut down by the Department of Health due to their business license being expired according to Panas. Last month their front door got smashed.
Panas first opened up at 2029 P Street, NW back in June 2010. A good run. Thanks to Jonathan Padget for the final update: (more…)

And it’s square in the middle of the food court seating. Wild. Stay tuned for an opening date. &Pizza will be located right next to those arcade games: (more…)

Thanks to Andrew for sending us this morning:

624 E Street, NW
On the heels of Matchbox taking over the old Hen Quarter space on the other side of E Street comes some more good lunching news for Penn Quarter – I hear that “There’s a Sweetgreen going into the old Taylor Gourmet spot at 624 E St NW. Coming this May.” I give this a 73% 93% accuracy rating. [Update: Douglass Development just like a tweet about this, so I’m taking that as a very good sign.] Fingers crossed and stay tuned!!
