A few folks were asking about Butter Chicken Company and the owner tells me about the long term plans which led to the closure of two DC spots (on H Street, NE above and in Dupont on 19th St) which suffered during the pandemic. Shin opened his flagship location in the NoMa neighborhood of Washington, D.C. in 2016, and expanded with additional locations in Tenleytown and College Park, Maryland, opening the following year. “An update on Dave Thomas Circle: We were informed today that the last day of operations for the Wendy’s will be next Tuesday, & they will vacate the premise by 9/30.

Onward to a less confusing and safer intersection. Grateful for the advocacy of neighbors who helped us get here.”

“After making it through the most challenging period imaginable for restaurants with all locations intact, and now hitting record sales, HipCityVeg, the plant-based fast casual restaurant based in Philadelphia, is resuming its aggressive growth strategy this fall. The expansion will begin with a new DC location in Brentwood.

The restaurant group currently has brick and mortar locations in DC’s Chinatown and Dupont Circle. It will open a delivery only location, which the company calls a “Go Kitchen,” in NE DC’s Brentwood neighborhood on September 20th.  

This month, HipCityVeg also broke ground on its Navy Yard, DC location, which was delayed by the Pandemic.  That store will open in early 2022 for dine-in, takeout, and delivery. (more…)
