Alba Osteria opened at the end of 2013. A trailblazer for the area. But I’m now hearing that they will be changing their concept to tacos. The tipster is one of the tipsters who accurately told us about Sixth Engine’s closure. I therefore give this an accuracy rating of 88%. Updates when/if we learn more.
8th and H Street, NW across the street from the Carnegie Library and the coming Apple Flagship store
Techworld!! I worked here way back in the day in my previous life and I feel like there used to be a gym here – anyone remember which gym that was or am I losing my mind? Ed. Note: I realize that is not mutually exclusive. Anyway, thanks to Bry for sending the news that an Equinox is coming!
Thanks to Mary for sending word Sunday night. Philos opened up here back in 2015. They are located right across the street from Sixth Engine which we learned last week had closed Read More
Thanks to Rachel for sending:
“I noticed at 506 K Street NW (Across from the Giant) in Mt. Vernon, there was new gym/training place opened called EPIC. I called and it is their grand opening this week and they’re offering $1 classes until 2/4/2019 when you register on their website (It’s the last option when you pick the class you want to attend)
Looks like a fun atmosphere for people who don’t enjoy regular gyms.”

“Dear PoPville,
BREAKING News! Sixth Engine also closing on Mass and 4th. It’s a bloodbath! Apparently something is moving in, so it won’t be empty long. It’s a real bummer, it was a great after work spot.
Ed. Note: Update from another reader: “I can confirm Sixth’s Engine’s closing. I was at the closing party last night.”
438 Massachusetts Ave, NW
I’ve worked in Chinatown/Mount Vernon for about eight years now, and the recent spate of business closings is jarring! Just got word the Starbucks next to the Walmart is closing, which is hot on the heels of the Au Bon Pain and Capital One closing on the same block. Read More
